Hauled water and private wells
A lot of Foothills properties are not on a municipal line — they are on hauled water or a private well. That changes everything about a drain-and-fill or an acid wash: the job has to be planned around delivery and storage rather than a garden hose, and well water often arrives with a mineral profile that needs correcting before the pool will balance. Tell us your water situation when you call and we will schedule around it instead of finding out on the day.
Open desert exposure
Without a neighbouring wall to break the wind, Rio Verde pools take on dust, seed and plant litter at a rate that surprises people moving out from the city. Skimmer baskets fill faster and filters load sooner, so we run filter cleanings here on condition rather than on a fixed calendar — and we would rather clean one early than let pressure climb and chemistry drift.
Large lots, longer equipment runs
Bigger properties often mean the equipment pad sits well away from the pool, with longer plumbing runs and more head pressure for the pump to fight. Do you actually drive out to Rio Verde every week?
Yes. Sapphire Pools runs regular weekly routes through Rio Verde and Rio Verde Foothills — it is ten to fifteen minutes from our Fountain Hills base, which is closer than a good part of Scottsdale. That proximity is the whole point: weekly visits land on the same day each week, and we can reach an equipment failure the same week it happens rather than the next.
My house is on hauled water. Can you still do a drain and refill?
Yes, but it has to be planned rather than scheduled blind. On a hauled-water or well property, Sapphire Pools coordinates the acid wash and refill around your water delivery so the pool is not sitting empty in the sun waiting on a truck — an empty plaster pool in Arizona summer is a real risk, not a theoretical one. Well water also frequently needs its mineral content corrected before the pool will hold a balance, which we handle as part of the fill.
Why does my Rio Verde pool get dirty so much faster than my old one in town?
Open desert exposure. Most Foothills lots have no neighbouring wall to break the wind, so dust, seed and plant debris reach the water in volumes a walled suburban yard never sees.
