Pool Equipment Repair

Pumps, motors, heaters, automation, lights, control boards and water levelers — diagnosed before anything is quoted, and quoted before anything is replaced.

What This Is

Most pool repair calls we take are one of three things: a pump that will not prime, a heater that lights and drops straight back out, or an auto-fill leveler that has quietly stopped filling. The third one is the one homeowners almost never call about, because nothing looks broken — the water just creeps down, the chemistry drifts with it, and by the time anyone notices, the pump has been running dry-ish for weeks and the problem has become expensive.

Sapphire Pools diagnoses before quoting, and quotes before replacing. That order matters more in this trade than most, because a fair amount of pool equipment gets replaced when it did not need to be. A heater that will not stay lit is often an ignitor or a flame sensor, not a heater. A pump that hums but will not turn is sometimes a capacitor. We would rather tell you that and do the smaller job.

We are residential only, and we do not do structural or construction work. If what you need falls outside that, we will say so rather than take the job and subcontract it back to you at a markup.

How It Works

Diagnose on site

We come out, run the system, and find the actual fault rather than working from a description over the phone. Electrical faults, flow problems and chemistry-caused damage all present similarly to a homeowner and very differently at the pad.

Explain repair vs. replace

You get told what is wrong, what each option costs, and which one we would choose. A control board or an ignitor is usually worth repairing. A twenty-year-old single-speed pump usually is not, because the replacement often pays for itself through the electricity saving alone.

Quote before any work

Nothing gets replaced before you have agreed the price. There is no diagnostic that quietly turns into a repair on the invoice.

Repair, then verify under load

We do not call a job done at the moment it powers on. The system gets run properly — priming, pressure, heater cycling, automation talking to the equipment — before we leave, because half of pool repair callbacks are things that worked once and then did not.

Common Questions

Do I have to be a weekly service customer to book a repair?

No. Sapphire Pools takes repair work for homeowners across Fountain Hills, North Scottsdale, Rio Verde and Northeast Phoenix whether or not we handle your weekly maintenance. Plenty of our weekly clients started as a one-off repair call. Either way the process is the same: we diagnose on site, explain repair versus replacement, and quote before any work begins.

My pool is losing water. Can you find the leak?

It depends where it is losing it, and this is a question worth answering honestly. Sapphire Pools repairs equipment-side leaks — a leaking pump seal, a failed valve, a cracked union at the pad — because that is equipment work. A leak in the shell, the plumbing under the deck, or a structural crack needs a dedicated leak-detection specialist with pressure-testing and listening equipment, which is not a service we offer. Call (480) 973-3244 and we will look at it; if it is structural we will tell you that rather than sell you a repair that will not fix it.

How quickly can you get out for a repair?

It depends on where you are and what has failed. Because our routes are deliberately concentrated within about a 45-minute drive of Fountain Hills, we are usually already in your area during the week — which is the whole reason we keep the service area tight. A failed pump in summer gets treated as urgent, because an Arizona pool with no circulation in July does not stay clear for long. Call (480) 973-3244 and we will tell you honestly when we can be there.

Is it worth replacing my old single-speed pump?

Usually yes, and the reason is running cost rather than reliability. A single-speed pump running every day is typically the largest electricity draw on an Arizona property after the air conditioning. A variable-speed unit turns the water over slowly for longer instead of fast for a short window, which is quieter, easier on the plumbing, and materially cheaper on an APS or SRP bill. Sapphire Pools sizes the replacement to your actual plumbing run and pool volume rather than swapping like for like, and sets the schedule so the pool genuinely turns over at the lower speeds where the saving is.
